Susera, Gwalior, Madhya

Located in Susera, near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, the Rabbani
School was established in 1977. Its objective is to provide
rural youth with academic and practical skills for development,
combining the teaching of moral principles with a love for
service. The campus is located on a 72-acre farm where more than
200 male students help grow some of their own food and practice
other agricultural skills, such as poultry and dairy farming.
Inspired by the Bahá'í teaching of the oneness of mankind, the
faculty and students, drawn from a variety of religious and
economic backgrounds from India and Nepal, learn to work
together. The Bahá'í ethos of education combined with service to
the community at large is reflected through continued service to
nearby villages.
Over the years, the school and the villages
have become partners in many community development efforts,
including the establishment of village primary schools assisted
by Rabbani staff and students, literacy programmes, community
health initiatives and commercial forestry. The Rabbani School
places great emphasis on character building and enabling the
students to take initiative in creating peaceful, productive
communities.
"Strive as much as possible to become proficient in the
science of agriculture, for in acordance with the divine
teachings the acquisition of sciences and the perfection of arts
are considered acts of worship."
