The Bahá'í Academy was founded on 27 June 1982. Situated in Panchgani, a peaceful hill resort about 4300 feet above mean sea level, its 'Permanent Seat' overlooks a scenic valley, and mountain range with farm land terraces, and is surrounded by trees and gardens.

Since its establishment, the Academy has offered tens of courses and workshops, for the benefit of thousands of individuals who have come from over 50 countries. The courses offered by the Academy were held at its campus as well as other cities and overseas.

The Academy is well equipped with basic requirements to host courses and other events. An impressive library, dinning facilities, an uplifting Assembly hall with enchanting beauty of the mountain peaks at its backdrop, a prayer and meditation room, three dormitories to accommodate 60 guests, a recreation room, STD & ISD connections, fax and email are among the facilities available at the Academy. It provides an ideal space for intellectual discourses, training, study, contemplation, and self rejuvenation.

"Through education savage nations become civilized, and even the animals become domesticated. Education must be considered as most important; for as diseases in the world of bodies are extremely contagious, so, in the same way, qualities of spirit and heart are extremely contagious..."
