This year (2002-2003), the main
focus of the Office of Inter-Faith Dialogues was on the presentation
of the special message of the Universal House of Justice
addressed to religious leaders. A large number of copies have
been either personally presented to the religious/spiritual
leaders or dispatched by courier/post.
With respect to continuing interactions with the organizations
and institutions the Bahá'í representatives have attended some
250 programs (mostly in Delhi and a few outstation) during the
year. Such a sustained rapport with the highest levels in the
society down to the common gentry has helped to remind the
society of the independent character of the Bahá'í Faith and
keeps alive the interest of the people of capacity and
prominence in better understanding the aims and purposes of the
Teachings of the Faith. Particular efforts were made to further
strengthen the collaboration with inter-faith organizations such
as Temple of Understanding, Foundation for Religious Harmony &
Universal Peace, World Fellowship of Inter-Religious Council,
Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan, International Association for
Religious Freedom, Ramakrishna Mission, Brahma Kumaris, Sri
Aurobindo Society & Gnostic Centre, the India Habitat Centre,
the New Delhi YMCA, the YWCA of Delhi.
Bahá'í representatives participated in the all-religion prayer
meeting organized at Rajghat on the occasion of 133rd Birth
Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The President of India, Prime
Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Opposition
Leader were present on the occasion. Later, the Hon'ble
President Invited the groups to repeat the recitations at
Rashtrapathi Bhavan which provided another opportunity to chant
Bahá'í Prayers.
