All the Bahá'í Offices for the Advancement of Women throughout
the world are the affiliates of the Office for the Advancement
of Women of the Bahá'í International Community, New York. They
share information with each other regarding the various
humanitarian projects throughout the world. The Office for the
Advancement of Women, New York also gives guidance and
direction, when needed, to the regional offices.
Bahá'í International Community is a non-governmental
organisation that both encompasses and represents the worldwide
membership of the Bahá'í Faith, including more than five million
men and women from over 2,100 ethnic groups and almost every
nationality, economic class, trade and profession. Its United
Nations office cooperates as a non-governmental organisation
sharing the experiences of the Bahá’í communities all over the
world in their humanitarian, social and economic goals and
participating in regular sessions of such UN bodies as the
Commission on Human Rights, the Commission on the Status of
Women and the Commission on Sustainable Development.
The Bahá'í International Community has been granted consultative
status with various bodies of the United Nations like ECOSOC and
UNICEF as an international NGO. They also have working relations
with WHO and have worked closely with UNEP, UN Center for Human
Rights, UNDP and UNIFEM.
They have offices in New York and Geneva and representations to
United Nations regional commissions and other offices in Addis
Ababa, Bangkok, Nairobi, Rome, Santiago and Vienna.
